What always got me with mines before is a person could carry 3 of them at a time. That seems a little unrealistic to me that a person could carry around 3 of them, and also deploy them in a matter of seconds. I think there should be a max of 2 per person and when you go to lay them down, there is a progress meter like when you are planting the bomb. yeah, that would slow it down. Nobody wants a TOO REALISTIC game, it would just be boring. I loved the fact I could run through a door knowing I was followed and plant a quick MINE and watch the dude blow up ahhahaha.

HAHA That is EXACTLY what always pissed me off so much about mines. I would have a guy dead to rights, he runs through a door, takes 2 seconds to plant a mine, runs away and I GO BOOOOOOOOOM :-(

I always liked PMN mines because they made you think before you go flying through a doorway. IMO there was less camping with PMN mines because you would plant them then run and fight. After you died, you had a good chance to get an easy kill.

I voted yes. Both PMN mines and Claymores should be scavengable from dead bodies though to make you think about bringing them with you into the fray.

PMN mines should not be available to the SEALs as they don't use them and rarely if ever use any sort of victim detonated device.
Plus I thought the SEALs having clays and the terrorists having mines made for a fun and interesting balance.
Clays on one hand have to be watched and command detonated but their kill zone was much larger and by time an enemy could detect one on the ground it was usually already too late. PMN mines did not have to be watch but their kill zone was smaller, they could usually spotted easier, and you physically had to step right on them for them to go off... which made them easier to avoid or go around.

I voted no. No more help for campers! In socom you have to earn your kills dammit! Life is also earned.

A litter of water in a NATO canteen is going to weigh more then two PMN mines and deploying one I believe is just a pin type pull. But from a gameplay standpoint I'm not against your sugestion.

S1 didn't have PMN mines and it made the game play quicker than S2 IMO. I didn't have to creep around looking for those damn mines on the ground, I could just run and gun. True, but PMN's in my mind brought a different level or clan wars. For example being outnumbered on Chain Reaction Place PMN mines and with each kill your smile gets bigger and bigger and turning from a situation to a good one to give you a chance. But with good clans this wasn't as easy at it sounds. You cud run and gun for the most part ya just had to be quick on your toes to make sure you were scanning the ground for mines when you were in an area usually mined up hard

Huh, your right. A PNM Mine weighs ~1.1 to 1.5 pounds. I figured they would have been heavier (according to wikipedia anyways) another interesting fact is once set, they have a 60 second arming delay once you pull the pin.

The arming delay is that long... I had thought it was only 4 or 5 seconds like a grenade was. Having the game add a 10-20 second arming delay would actually make things interesting cause you wouldn't be protected right away. Would make repeat mine placement more risky and less useful.

As long as SEAL's have mines too. I mean that is a big advantage to the mercs in general. Especially if its a map with a lot of grassy areas

I voted no and I am with Boomstick on this one. But at the same time I would vote yes if we had UCRR's.

Especially if its a map with a lot of grassy areas I think claymores are better in big grassy areas because their kill zone is so much larger and command detonation works better. Think about Foxhunt. With a PMN you had to hope the person stepped right over that one little spot on the whole map, claymore you walk anywhere in front and you could be toast.
