Just want to see the opinion on the use of thermal scopes in SOCOM 4. I gave you two choices so be sure to choose one of the first 4 options about how the thermal should be and choose one of the last 2 options for when it can be used.
Basically Socom 2 Thermal refers to the limited visibility and the 1 zoom only option and Socom Confrontation refers to the 1x,2x, and 4x zooms and the option to switch the color of the thermal.
I personally like Confrontation thermal however I think in Socom 4 thermal should only be used at night.

I voted for a redesign & "night time only".
And I think the THERMAL should add "weight" like it was in previous Socoms.
The shear weight of that attachment was like wearing medium armor. NOW, on Confrontation, there are no attachment penalties.

I voted to redesign and Day and Night maps. My reasons are that the thermal is designed to work at night and in "cold" maps like Blizzard or Guidance. I also think that it should be redesigned so that it has a very limited effective distance and maybe a slight drop in accuracy to balance out the advantages it gives. Maybe make it pretty blurry or washed out in a daytime setting.

A lot of precautions need to be made if a thermal scope is included IMO.
Cannot have a wide angle 1x field of view like Confrontation or a very high power magnification option either. The 1x option made locating targets far too easy with a scope that makes people glow. Should be a fixed 4x or 5x magnification IMO, nothing else. That way you have to search around more to find people at least.
In the real world they are very large and heavy compared most other optic gun sight options this would negatively effect shoulder fire accuracy when not looking though it more so then any other type of scope or sight. Do this in the game, make 3rd person and OTS/FP accuracy crap. Should be at least as bad as the M82 was in 3rd person from S2. If there is an encumbrance system make it heavy.
The effective range it detects thermal heat signatures at must be at least 20-40 meters less then whatever the effective range of NVG is made to be in the game.
Other thing to maybe do is limit the number of weapons your allowed to attach it to. Snipers only or Snipers and DMRs only.
Do all that and I think the thermal will be ok to have in the game.
And as far as using it at day or night it should not matter. It sees thermal heat signatures not visible light. Completely different spectrum, one has nothing to do with the other. And if they did the game really detailed they could make using a thermal during the day even more of a disadvantage because of the extra radiant heat on everything from the sun.

Thermal scopes didn't weigh anything in confrontation, or effect your accuracy. Plus the range on them in confrontation is crazy.
Redesign that shiznit.
