Having to sign in to view threads

I kinda hate this, sometimes I like to look at threads without signing in on my iphone or ipad (because it's a pain to sign in with those devices).

And I know some people like to "lurk" a bit before registering, so it's even worse off for them.

Any chance that you guys will change this?

Agreed BlackBerry Browser is a pain to sign in on as well.

I think HTK wanted to do this in order to get people to say "hey, i really want to see what this forum is about" and sign up.

BUT, i do agree sometimes when i'm on my iPhone i hate having to sign in to "lurk", i'll discuss it with the Staff.

People can still have access to our podcast on the main forum page without logging in.

I think people should proudly sign up if they want to contribute.

Also remember, we pay fees based on the total NUMBER OF VIEWS the forum gets traffic wise.


Since the staff is paying for this service, we want to restrict this luxury to official MEMBERS only.

This problem is easily fixed if you guys SIGN IN ONCE and save it. Once you do that you never have to worry about signing in with your phone or computer.

Reason we are approaching it like this, and I know I don't like it either. But it's what LUKE said. We pay for page views and if there is bunch of people viewing and never register its just eating up money for someone thats really not contributing at all.

Sorry, if you guys just SIGN in once on your phone you should be golden. Thats not much to ask for.

I see were he is getting at, but yeah I agree, logging in one time and saving it should solve the problem.

I don't think you can do that on the Iphone or Ipad, or at least I don't know how.

The only downfall with most forums where some actually give you the option is that by having the board as sign in only to read them keeps a lot of spider engines from listing & indexing the those particular threads & post. Thats the bad part the good part is that people actually have to sign in to read them.

I too am guilty of not loggin in just to read the post as well. I have done that from time to time just being lazy on my part.

Occasionally that feature bugs out... I always select log in forever and every so often it prompts me to log in again lol... w.e nbd really though.

There is a script to make the dropdown box default to "forever". You should throw that on.
