On the last Zipline they said they were not going to have a Jump to Climb Feature.
Some people think that this is a major while others don't really care.
I'm guessing that there will be no major walls(Desert Glory,Fish Hook,Water Works, for ex.) that a feature like Jump to Climb will be useful for.
What are your thoughts??

It is what it is, only thing we can do is make a push for them to consider changing it back into the game.

It's one feature.
Because Turban thinks it should define SOCOM, so does everyone else.
It was supposed to be a flaw in the system. Chances are, the feature wasn't supposed to even be in the game and was a bug.
SOCOM is defined by the gameplay and the community that plays it.

I'm not surprised that they are not bringing back jump to climb. Now that I think of it, I am surprised they had it in the past SOCOM games because they are going for realism.

It honestly didn't sound to me like the guy knew exactly what just to climb was. I think he was thinking it was a glitched as he mentioned getting up on rooftops your not supposed to be on.

shame that its not in there, it added some extra speed to the game. Depends if it's necessary in the maps they designed. And for the one map that is old, who is to say they won't adjust accordingly. If the game flows fine without it and is not needed or would of been rare, it's not worth the time and money to add it. I can live with out it.

It seems like in earlier iterations, jump to climb increased the likely hood for individuals to use it to discover glitches or map soft spots.
I don't think it is necessary at all.

People complained because Confrontation didn't have it in maps that always used it. They should have added a ladder in Desert Glory for instance. Instead you have to go all the way to the end of the boardwalk and expose yourself in a way that you never would have in the older games. Same with the ability to close doors. It wouldn't have mattered if there weren't maps included in the game that always had those abilities before.

i take it that jump to climb is used to climb ladders right? THey can just make it that you climb automatically when near a ladder. Simple!! :)

Not having it is just another limitation I don't care for in games that are watered down enough as is. Even if map designs are created to work without it that just means the designs will be limited.
To put things into a more obvious perspective imagine if they had announced that there will be no more climbing ladders... but then they try to justify it by saying it's not needed because none of the maps are designed with ladders... so who cares right? Wrong. Because now the designs of the maps are limited more and so is the way they get played. Just like Crossroads never would of been without climbing ladders a map like The Ruins never would of been without jump climbing.
Abandoned had a number of spots that used the jump climb so you can bet that either the design or the way we play that map will be compromised some. Perhaps it may not be a big issue at all but I really dislike anything that puts limitations on map designs. Plus it feels like moving backwards like so many other things.

Yeah i agree, abandoned had a couple "jump to climb" spots. So are they going to add ladders? Lower the ledge so we can "vault"? Not let us get there? What ever happens and what ever they do about it, it seems it's going to change the way we play that map one way or another.

You can climb ledges you just can't jump and climb. So for example on Abandoned by the Seals SPAWN that Tunnel that goes towards the waterfall has that "Climb" wall to get into that tunnel. I think you'll be able to approach that and climb but not JUMP & CLIMB. Know what I mean?

Although I'd love for jump to climb to make a come back, it wouldn't be a game breaker.

In order to use jump to climb like we used to they could just lower walls and ledges that are supposed to be climbed. For instance in DG , the boardwalk could have been lowered in Confrontation so that you could still climb up at that point vs having to run all the way around. The half wall in Crossroads was accessed with jump to climb in the old games and I think they have addressed that in S4 with the "vault" ability. Jump to climb really only came into play with ledges that were slightly out of reach such as the boxes in Frostfire. I guess what I'm saying is that any accessable walls or ledges that are to be "legally" used should be low enough to reach without jumping and with the even lower walls or obstacles we should be able to use the "vault".
