I'm talking about unlockable weapons. What the hell's wrong with all the weapons having to be unlocked in every recent shooter. You guys basically just told us there will be no weapon balance. Weapon balance is the most important thing in any shooter. Any dumbass knows that. That's what the COD players have been complaining about since day one of MW2. It's bull! I don't want another player to have a better weapon than I do just because he bought the game a month before I did. It's totally unfair, and therefore, makes it harder for me to unlock the weapon becuase I'll probably get owned by all these overpowered weapons. Zipper, you really screwed the playing field with MAG. I bought the game 2 months ago and when I first played it, I got destroyed because all I had was an M4 with NO attachments. You didn't even start us off with anything. I really don't want to be punished for not pre-ordering the game or buying it early. It strips me of the fun I'll have upon buying the game. In short, don't screw the newbies over. Keep the weapons BALANCED!

I always feel like its another way of catering to the casual gamers (which they're trying to do), especially if its also linked into a ranking system (MW2esque! ) pushing people to keep playing and to rank up as quickly as possible just so they can unlock an RPG at level 68 is not cool! tie in a trophy for unlocking all weapons.. nightmare! I personally would prefer it so that if you acquire it in your load out in single player, its then unlocked in multiplayer! but I do get that a lot of people have no desire to play single.

I guess unlocking is just something to do, nothing I would lose sleep over. If you play enough you earn better stuff....if you don't well than that's your problem.

Imbalances created by unlocks isn't the same thing as weapon imbalances IMO. Also this has a lot to do with how you define a weapon imbalance and what is your personal level of balance for a particular weapon that you think is ok.

I see both sides of the spectrum on this one, and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely don't want unlockable weapons in Socom, but I'm trying to decide if it's going to piss me off to know end...hmmmm???

If someone else has a gun because he bought the game in January, and I bought it in March, he'll probably have a much stronger/more accurate/longer range gun than I do. I don't want that. What I do want is for every gun to be flawed [Slightly] I don't wan t it to be a bad mama jama and destroy everything in its path.

They should have keep it old school. The way things were during S1. No Rank... No imbalances... We were all content with that.

I can see where your coming from, but, it really is just a way to make people play the game. Think about it, how boring would it be, if from day 1, you had all these weapons / attachments etc, I like the idea of being rewarded for my progression. That's just my personal opinion though.
But while we're on the subject of weapons, every gun should have it's own flaws and percs. I really don't want too see a load of assault rifles with different skins, being exactly the same in play/stats, one of the main things that annoyed me about MAG, 1 assault rifle should be slightly different from another!

It's not boring, Spicey.
That's how it has been from day 1. It's been about playing the video game opposed to work. This franchise actually used to be about making friends/being friendly, but now it's about who has the bigger e-penis.

Here's the actual reply, you thought I meant.
It really is boring, there's nothing like taking down a guy that has one of the best guns in the game with the worst gun in the game, that right there is what I play for! I couldn't care less about what gun I'm using! As long as I'm on it, it's on!

Okay...Not really. Not at all actually.
I know what you said. You like being rewarded for playing a game; Like a chore which I replied to saying video games, scratch that, SOCOM isn't a chore.

They should just hide some uber gun on every map. If you are lucky enough to find it then you can uber dominate for that round only. It should be hidden somewhere that puts you at high risk for looking for it. Boy now wouldn't that have the casuals frothing at the mouth.

Yeah I do like being rewarded, but that's only a small aspect of what enjoyment I get from playing any game. A game would become, eventually, quite stale and boring if, say for example 18 years down the line, nothing ever happened, just the same, day in ... day out for 18 years. You saying that wouldn't be boring?
And yeah I have taken that quite literately, way out of context, but it seems to be what you understand, taking one minuscule detail, focusing on it and making something out of nothing. Because I'm quite sure a lot of people quite enjoy a reward of some kind for doing what they like doing.
However, am not gonna let you off with trying to make me sound bad, when you have actually lied twice on your own thread
first off, I never said I like being rewarded for playing a game, I said I like being rewarded for my progression, again something out of nothing.
And secondly, on my thread, you didn't say that "Socom isn't a chore" you actually said "you feel that video games are more a chore than a hobby."
again that skill you have for something out of nothing, but, I'm sure you'll work you skills round to make it seem like that's what you said in your next post.
I'll get you stated, differentiate between quote and statement.

All this because you don't want to come out looking stupid? You realize you're looking more like an ass by not dropping it?
Let me end by saying one thing which I said in my first reply. SOCOM doesn't need fancy features to be great. It never became stale and boring because they were a variety of maps, weapons, and strategy.
You said you never played 1 and 2. You never played half the maps/weapons. This franchise gave you so many assault rifles that you couldn't be bored with it. You could switch the gameplay by using the RA-14 one game and use the M16A2 the next or the M4 or the AKS, the AK, the AG, anything. The sky was the limit.

No, if Im being totally honest, "All this" is because you started being an ass long before I did, I'm just a bigger ass than you.
I'm quite curious as too these "fancy features" you keep referring too, I'm guessing you mean my original post here when I mentioned weapon and attachments, which coincidentally, I did not mention anything to do with socom, I was merely jesting at the general shooter game at large and funnily enough, you don't mention socom in your opening post? Hmm.
I'll leave that with you

HAHHA.
We're on a forum talking about SOCOM 4. SOCOM doesn't need weapon progression. That's what my OP is about.
Can we lock this thread please. HAHAHAH.

If it's a thread about socom, why are you speaking about COD/MAG, what have they got to do with it, again, you've taken your own post out of context.
Don't lock the thread because you are just unbelievably thick as shit and here's why;
First off, you more or less said, Guns don't make the game fun, You don't want rewards it makes the game a chore, you don't need them to enjoy it. But in your OP you said "I got destroyed because all I had was an M4 with NO attachments. You didn't even start us off with anything. I really don't want to be punished for not pre-ordering the game or buying it early. It strips me of the fun I'll have upon buying the game."
2 things about that dumbass. Your complaining about not getting any "fancy features" and secondly it's about MAG on your "It's a socom forum".
Is it just me, or are you going round in a circle, do you want them or not?
Where's Intelligence?
