I'm so pissed about this, I can't even goto into it right now without going all "Turban" on the subject.
Dirty campers worldwide are grinning from ear to ear right now.
And the rushers out there are scrambling around the floor trying to pick their jaws back up.

I've got a feeling they're going to go down the MAG path where you can equip your self with motion detectors and noise amplifiers. Thats the impression I got when they were talking about removing the gun hot feature. I don't know if this would be good or not as I've never actually tested them in that game. I just don't understand why they're doing it! I also find it funny how some people on the official forums are bashing both the system and the people who use it for being noobs and cheats, every post I've ever read, people talk about unless it brings balance it shouldn't be in the game. And yet this is one of those features, yes it helps campers but it also helps the rushers find campers! and since these maps are going to be pretty big I really hope they're going to remove elimination mode! all they need now is to add aim assist ;D

I always thought the gun hot thing was utter BS.
But if your going to have an elimination game mode, and dense cover where people can just lay down and be completely hidden... you kinda need a hint like your gun going hot.
Sigh.

I understand Zipper's decision on it to add a sense of realism, but at the same time I felt it was a staple of the series.

I am on the fence about this.
Yes, It will give campers more of an advantage. It was a nice feature to have, to sniff out where they might be hiding.
But, on the other hand it does add more realism to the game. Because when I was in military, (GO ARMY!) I don't recall my gun ever going "active" when we were in the field.
I just want UCRR's....

The question is why did they have it there in the first place. Obviously they thought it was needed to keep the game more playable in camping situations or they would have never put it in there. If they are removing it then I would have to believe that it will be replaced with something else in order to keep the natural flow of the game moving. Otherwise it will add to the campfest that they tried to avoid in the beginning.

I can see everyone camping now. Anyone that goes out to hunt the campers will be killed because they didn't know they were there.

Otherwise it will add to the campfest that they tried to avoid in the beginning. They probably had it as some sort of code to keep peoples weapons on their shoulders if danger was close, so you didn't have to wait a half of a second for your gun to fire when you pulled the trigger. Personally, all I have to say is, "You guys are surprised?" They have literally said over and over, "It's a whole new 'expuhrience'." and "This is a brand new Socom". If there is anything about Socom 4 that somewhat resembles any previous Socoms, I would be surprised. Zipper has made it clear they don't want to make another Socom, they want to make another game you buy while you wait for the next Socom.

Don't like the idea that they've taken out this feature.
BUT, the only way to see the real effect it has on the game, is to play it, so, we'll see, as of now i'm not liking it.

well i liked it since I'm looking at a TV screen in my game room, and I'm not immersed as much as my little avatar solider walkin tha beat on the game board. i like it when his spidey sense kicks in.....But to be able to sneak around without makin guns hard would be a plus+

I guess it'll actually be advantageous in some situations like when playing extraction, it'll be a whole let easier trying to get the douche that camps with the hostages in DG at least! now they'll never know when your sneaking in!!

I normally rush in the beginning of the round and to see if someone is near I "bounce" my gun off the wall to see if the enemy are near. I will probably camp a lot more.
