Numerous SOCOM fans out there have touted.......
"If Zipper made SOCOM 4 just like S1 & S2 but HD, it would sell millions of copies!"
I have been one to argue that notions myself. But what happened to our beloved SOCOM 2 Playstation poll to bring it back?
We have yet to even break 7,000 voters.
I watched a couple of gaming reviews by the AngryJoeShow today, that highlighted Halo ODST & Halo Reach.
I ran across it while peaking at all the hype since I don't own an XBox 360.
During Joe's review, I found myself seeing numerous parallels between the Halo fanbase, and our niche SOCOM fanbase.
What would have happened if Zipper gave the fans a "tribute" game?
These vids offer a small glimpse from another similar franshise.
Here are the reviews.....watch both in their entirety if you want to know what I truly mean in this thread.
Below is the official Halo ODST review that was removed from YouTube and completes the puzzle.

I wonder if this would have happened to the SOCOM series if it's popularity had never died out. My imagination also ventures into wondering what would really happen to SOCOM 4 if it strictly was designed to be a "tribute" to the fanbase like most of us wish for on SOCOM.com.
Just food for thought. These historic gaming events are seen by all developers out there. And I think Zipper is wise to always appeal to NEW gamers and being sure the fanbase constantly grows. But at the same time, appealing to the longitme players out there without ripping them off with recycled gameplay we paid for years ago.
A game like SOCOM can evolve and grow and appeal to us all, and I look forward to seeing how Zipper tackles this very delicate process.
Let me know what you think about the parallels I referred to in the videos provided.
