Im wondering if Combat Orders ive seen on the Demo using the d-pad are going to be in multi player?
If not I'd like to see some form of combat orders in multi-player. Id think it would help out the with some of the tactical problems most ppl have.
For example. Lets say that the
UP = Supressive/Cover Fir/EngageTarget (uisng your crossairs to point) LFT = Take Cover RGHT = Move Over There DWN =Clear all WavePoints (uisng your crossairs to point)
Using some kind of combat orders like these I know could help my frineds and I play alot better and closer as a unti. Its alot harder to call enemy players out over the mics while your team talks about what they had for lunch. BFBC2 had a spotting tool i thought was great. Example : Spotting an enemy until they are unseen for a predetermined time or use the "Covering System" that is in place to exit out of "Spotted mode"
Icons
Up = Bullseye LFT = Man/Female in crouching position RGHT = The Triangle/Cone i see they already have
Not asking to change single player. We need the more complex orders for AI but for multi-player we just need bare minimal and imo these are it. Also adding an OFF setting to these controls would work out well for people who dont want to use them or want the extra space for customization. I only post this becuz in one of the PodCasts ive seen they werent sure about combat orders

I hope not.
SOCOM is a microphone-oriented game. To set up the D-Pad controls like that is asinine. It's wasting space and puts restrictions on Customized Controls.

I dont think the custimized control schemes are going to be a problem. Most of that is with the Buttons and Triggers not the D-pad anymore Since the Zooming is going to be L1. I think your completely wong about it not being Socom orianted. Since its giving you more/better tools to command your "spuad" with. All Socoms cept for Confrontation had Combat Orders. People didnt use them becuase they were to slow to access. These are quick and easy to understand. Also on a side note i mean to everyone have the ability to do these combat orders/ willing to see fixed leaders too (MAG like feel)

We have command orders in Confrontation.
Nobody listens to them.
EDIT: Fuck you, Phantom. It's inconvenient to click another time to see this thread. I think we're in order for a new Admin.

Nobody even pays attention to those, I think those buttons could probably be used in better ways. The only one I've ever used was cover me so I could get the mic. But I still think I would've rather had two quick select buttons than that. So no commands online please.

wow, you two players gotta be RnG playerrs/ loner wolfs. Commands/quick commanders will add to the Military exp everyone wants. Give ppl the chance to squard up and listen to one commander is how Socom should be/ Socom is. They just need to make commands simple and easy to perform on the fly. I think i came up with a reasonable anwser. If, those buttons are to be used for something else i cant think of it. Now i know there are commands in one player this is just MP talk. Cause again i know in a PodCast they said they werent sure.

SOCOM has never been that in-depth. Nobody did now will ever listen to you if you don't have a microphone.
Besides, if you're going to spend $300 dollars on a console plus the $60 on the game, there's no reason you shouldn't have purchased a mic.

I know there are orders in confrontation, but they are slow as F@ck to get out. with the D-pad you can get quick and easy(simple) orders out. cover fire move. I also agree that ppl like yourselves dont listen to orders becuz who cares about teamwork when you just want to run around shooting everything. However. The ppl (like me) who know that this Socom is going to be the Most tactical Socom of all realize that when im not playing with my full clan are going to be listening to you and your RnG friends talking about what you had for lunch. With an Open mic system its gonna be real hard/annoying to have to talk over you to tell my teamates where ppl are. Try and Look at the big picture ppl

Oh and for your replys that say i dont want any stupid Icons or Orders on my screen. If you read what i posted first you should have seen i put in a orders OFF button in control settings. So that the ppl like yourself who want to talk about their lunch can without ppl like my spamming orders at them. Plus there is a clear button control also. I wanted it to be for anyone who does have an icon up to be able to clear them whenever, not just the person who gave the order to begin with.
I base my exp off of UC2 and Kane n Lynch, those 2 3rd person shooters are perfect examples of how socom 4 will be. Easly able to RnG but had huge potential of a tactical shooter, cept for they were gear more towards RnG. Socom wont be geared that way. Least not in the begining until the RnGs complain about not being able to go fully auto across the map like they did in Confrontation. Slant Six has no backbone( just wanted to say that)

You assume a lot, Cricket.
Like I said, why pay money for the console, game, and not buy a mic? You're spending a lot as it is.

I like to state the obvious. I just feel like when someone pays over 300 dollars to get themselves started in this so called "next-gen" gaming world, they shouldn't have an excuse to not go the full nine yards. Especially when they play a game like SOCOM.
Oh, and I do like trolling. I felt like it was my purpose on this site. I don't understand why I piss people off so much. Everyone takes things so personally.

I've been in many clans and command buttons were never used. We had no problems running a pub or destroying another clan. I think command button woulds just clog things up and be annoying.
