Im not sure what kinda of hosting you got.. but hopefully you have cpanel. And it comes with some scripts for forums like phpBB which is a great forums or you can use vbulletin which is 100x better and it is integrated in with your website. so it would be socomiv.com/forums and the forums would be hosted off of your own website. makes it a lot more customizable for kudo and w/e else is needed or what ever you would like to do to it. Just a tip  . |

Just a tip . We want to stay away from kudos hahahaha In future when we unify all of our sites together we'll look into it. We went with ProBoards because their SERVERS are maintained and there is less chances of forums crashing or anything crazy happening. We will also update the link for you guys so its socomiv.forums.com so there woun't be any issues with that. For now, this is where we stand until we unify everything. |

O yea thats right proboards let you back up everything and save it. i hope. so youd probley be safe in less the forums get so huge. ur Funked

I've seen some very popular Socom LEAGUE/TOURNEY sites get hacked before.
And over a year's worth of postings and war results vanished into thin air never to be seen again.
Needless to say, I didn't sign up when they tried to "start from scratch" and reopen.
I mean, why would I spend time on quality posting again if it has a chance to disappear like that?
I do not want to ever see that happen here so we rely on another server to store the info for us as HTK explained.

Yeah, proboards have never been hacked.  But mainly their servers are maintained on daily basis and we pay for ad-free service and we'll change the name aswell so its not socomiv.proboards.com |

Yeah, proboards aren't my favorite service. I would rather go with SMF. And as long as you do the maintenance yourself it shouldn't be a problem(usually about 10 minutes a day)

Proboards is free so features are limited. vB or IPB are the way to go.

Personally I like IPB. I had a forum set up on it a while back there are so many nice add-ons but this is nice.

VB is great but I prefer IPB for sure,. I've used both in the past but in the same token if something works well for ya stick with it. Be it phpBB ProBoards SimpleMachine. Just work it to your own advantage.
